PSEG celebrates veterans for Memorial Day

PSEG employee business resource groups the PSEG VETS, ASPIRE, and SPLIT teamed up to host a Memorial Day and Flag Day celebration – “Honoring our Heroes” – at the South Plainfield Senior Center to celebrate and honor veterans. PSEG sponsored the food, and volunteers from each group helped throw the event.

Volunteers grilled burgers and hot dogs, and there was a fully staffed kitchen that prepped, took orders, served, and cleaned up after. In total, there were about 75 seniors in attendance who expressed gratitude to all the day’s volunteers

“In talking to the seniors and vets, I can tell that they have all given to their communities, served, worked and even raised their kids in South Plainfield. It’s time we give a little back to them,” said Fariha Garcia, principal project controls engineer at PSEG. “A few of them even bragged about their children who currently work at PSEG. They were more than grateful to have us there hosting the ‘Honoring our Heroes event.”

Thank you to all who contributed to “Honoring our Heroes” and making this event so successful. And, a special thank you to South Plainfield Council President Christine Faustini and Business Administrator Glenn Cullen who joined in to show their support.
