Hey Alexa: What team was just named Top Innovator?

The PSE&G Alexa Skill Team has been named a Top Innovator by Public Utilities Fortnightly magazine.

The Alexa Skill Team of Emmanuel Ansah, Will Barnes, Lauren Biernacki, Julie Duncan, Lisa Garcia, Sal Orsino and Jared Osorio were named a Fortnightly Foremost Innovator in the magazine’s customer service category for developing “a comprehensive and easy-to-use real-time customer service interface for those customers with Alexa.”

PSE&G is the first utility to offer customers full payment, outage and appliance service appointment capabilities through a voice channel such as Amazon Alexa.

PSE&G’s Alexa skill, which was rolled out in December 2018, allows customers to ask billing questions, make payments, report power outages for their home and schedule appliance service appointments – all by simply asking Alexa.

The recognition, as well as an interview with members of the Alexa Skill Team, appears in the “Fortnightly Top Innovators 2019” issue, published Nov. 11.
