Since 2020, approximately 500,000 of our customers have taken steps to use energy more efficiently, and it’s making a real difference across New Jersey. Together, these actions are now delivering nearly $960 million in annual bill savings.1 Customers are also benefiting from rebates that help reduce the upfront cost of energy-saving upgrades, with more than $1.4 billion provided to date.2
Here’s a look at how customers are saving and how you can too.
Simple ways customers are cutting energy costs
Customers are taking advantage of everyday tools and upgrades that help manage energy use. So far, people across New Jersey have:
- Completed more than 108,000 home energy assessments.
- Purchased nearly 364,000 smart thermostats through the PSE&G Marketplace.
- Claimed more than 154,000 rebates for energy-efficient appliances and equipment.
- Recycled over 34,000 old working refrigerators and freezers.
Together these upgrades are helping our customers use energy more efficiently, maintain comfort at home and keep monthly energy costs as low as possible.
Better energy use for businesses and communities
Since program implementation, more than 22,000 businesses, including local shops, schools, hospitals and municipalities, are also making improvements through our programs that help manage operating costs. Additionally, nearly 35,000 energy-saving upgrades have been completed with our support, from lighting and heating and cooling improvements to refrigeration, equipment upgrades and other building system enhancements. When businesses save energy, they can invest more back into the services they provide to our communities.

For example, the New Jersey Chamber of Commerce upgraded its historic headquarters through our Direct Install Program. The improvements helped address ongoing maintenance issues, improve comfort throughout the building and make day-to-day operations more reliable and efficient.
The bigger impact across New Jersey
Energy efficiency is also supporting jobs and delivering broader benefits across the state. This work is delivered by a statewide network of more than 1,000 contractors, trade allies and union-affiliated labor implementing energy efficiency projects across New Jersey.
Additionally, our energy efficiency programs have supported more than 9,300 clean energy jobs, helping to sustain and grow career opportunities within a skilled local workforce.3
Customer actions are also helping make a difference for the environment. Energy-saving upgrades completed through these programs are helping avoid more than 2.4 million metric tons of carbon emissions each year, equal to taking more than 530,000 gasoline-powered cars off the road.4 Electric savings alone are enough to power about 475,000 homes for a full year.5
Together, these efforts are helping build a more efficient, more resilient and more Jersey Ready future.
