New Jersey Board of Public Utilities (NJBPU) Program marks 20 years of community support

On a recent sunny Monday, PSE&G president and COO Kim Hanemann joined New Jersey BPU President Joseph Fiordaliso, elected officials and other utility leaders to recognize and celebrate the 125,000th customer served by the NJ Comfort Partners Energy Efficiency Program.
Sonia Barata, a PSE&G customer has experienced life-improving service by engaging with Comfort Partners. During the event, Sonia shared that she previously needed to keep her thermostat set to 72 degrees in the winter to maintain a temperature in the 60s. But thanks to the attic insulation, new equipment, taped ducts and more she received as a Comfort Partners participant, Sonia can now keep her home at 64 degrees, a huge savings with the same level of comfort.
Sonia’s home was built in 1947 and posed health, safety and energy efficiency challenges. The home had almost no insulation in the attic, leaking ductwork and safety risks associated with both an aging furnace and clothes dryer.
The home’s previous owner was a family member, and Sonia was so pleased that these updates will help her be safe, warm and comfortable in a house that means so much to her and her family.
Comfort Partners is a partnership between NJBPU and the state’s electric and gas utilities to help income-qualifying families and individuals to save energy and money by making their homes more energy efficient.
