Approximately 525,000 customers have participated in programs that help manage energy use, improve energy efficiency and create lasting benefits across New Jersey.
Since our Clean Energy Future – Energy Efficiency programs were introduced in October 2020, the goal was simple: help customers reduce energy use, keep utility bills as low as possible and make energy efficiency improvements more accessible.
Since then, approximately 525,000 residential and business customers have participated in the programs by completing home energy assessments, upgrading equipment, installing smart thermostats and making other energy efficiency improvements.
Today, those individual actions have added up to an important milestone. Together, participating customers are now generating more than $1 billion in annual customer savings.[1]
How are PSE&G customers saving through Energy Efficiency programs?
Every home, business and building is different, and no single improvement delivers the same results for every customer. Whether it’s completing a home energy assessment, installing a smart thermostat, replacing older equipment or taking advantage of rebates and incentives, every step toward improving energy efficiency helps customers better manage energy use and keep utility bills as low as possible over time.

To date[2], participating customers have:
- Completed more than 111,000 home energy assessments
- Purchased nearly 373,000 smart thermostats on the PSE&G Marketplace
- Received nearly 158,000 appliance rebates
- Recycled more than 36,000 old appliances[3]
- Received approximately $1.1 billion in rebates and incentives to help make energy efficiency improvements more affordable[4]
Customers have also participated in our Demand Response programs. More than 37,600 customers are enrolled,[5] helping reduce energy use during some of the hottest days of the year and easing demand on the electric grid when electricity use is highest.
Businesses continue to make energy efficiency improvements, as well. Approximately 22,500 businesses, including more than 2,200 small businesses,[6] have participated in our energy efficiency programs, helping improve building performance while better managing energy use.
How have PSE&G energy efficiency programs helped benefit New Jersey communities?
The impact of energy efficiency often extends beyond the buildings where improvements are made.

One recent example is the Township of Rochelle Park, which completed upgrades through our Direct Install Program at its recreation center, fire headquarters and Department of Public Works building.
The improvements are expected to save the township approximately $7,170 in annual energy costs, savings that will be reinvested into recreation improvements, public safety resources and other community priorities.

Our energy efficiency programs are also supporting New Jersey’s economy. Program investments have supported approximately 9,300 jobs statewide while creating opportunities for more than 1,000 trade allies, including more than 100 union trade allies, who help design, install and implement energy efficiency improvements throughout the company’s service territory.
