Real people, real support: Our $1.5M pledge to support our communities

In times of uncertainty, we find strength in community.

PSE&G and the PSEG Foundation are launching the $1.5 million Community Relief Initiative, partnering with more than 25 trusted nonprofit organizations to support local nonprofits that assist households across our communities with essentials like food, housing and more.

We know many of our neighbors are feeling the strain of rising costs. These challenges are real – and growing. That’s why this initiative was created: to ensure critical resources reach neighbors who need them most.

Working with organizations that know our communities best

Through this initiative, funding will go directly to organizations such as SHARES Nation (formerly NJ SHARES), the Community Food Bank of New Jersey, Food Bank of South Jersey, Island Harvest and many more.

These groups are on the ground every day providing assistance with food, housing, energy and more, all while supporting families with compassion, care and consistency.

And they’re not just providing meals and financial support – they’re offering hope. The Community Relief Initiative is part of PSE&G and the PSEG Foundation’s ongoing efforts to support families and strengthen community well-being.

Cheryl B. Stowell, CEO of SHARES Nation, stated that “… this support will help strengthen our capacity to assist those most vulnerable” and “… will help ensure the continued partnership with our community-based agencies thereby enhancing our mission and our wholistic approach for essential services for those most in need.”

Elizabeth McCarthy of the Community Food Bank of New Jersey echoed this sentiment, sharing that “this additional funding will allow CFBNJ to strengthen our emergency hunger-relief efforts and ensure that our neighbors continue to have reliable access to nutritious food and essential resources.”

Relief for today, strength for tomorrow

This initiative is about more than just immediate help. It’s about building up the organizations that our communities rely on – not just to get through tough times, but to thrive beyond them.

PSE&G and the PSEG Foundation have also invited nonprofit partners to a conference focused on collaboration and practical solutions. The event will feature discussions on utility assistance programs and ways to improve support for community members who need help with essentials like food, housing and more – reinforcing the idea that when we work together, we can make a deeper, longer-lasting impact.

Community support is a team effort

Safe, reliable service is essential, and so is standing with our communities to ensure they have the support and resources they need.

As Calvin Ledford Jr., president of the PSEG Foundation, said, “True community support goes beyond energy – it’s about building strong partnerships with organizations that understand local needs.”

We’re grateful for these partners – and for all the work they do to uplift families in our communities every day. Together, we hope to make life a little more manageable for our neighbors across the communities we serve.

Because when we come together – as neighbors, as partners and as a community – we’re stronger.
