For over 120 years, PSE&G has proudly provided safe and reliable service to our customers.
And while the energy that runs through wires and pipes in our communities powers your homes and businesses, the real energy is in the people behind the work. PSE&G is not just your utility company, we are your neighbor and your trusted energy provider.
Our employees often live in the communities they serve. They’re parents, coaches and friends. And when emergencies happen, they’re ready to be there. Here are just a few recent examples that remind us why we’re so proud to do what we do.
PSE&G technicians administer first aid in moment of crisis for child
One morning in Jersey City, PSE&G technicians James and Nick heard a commotion and saw something frightening: a child being attacked by a dog who had broken free from its leash. While the dog’s owner was able to restrain the dog, the child had received a significant laceration on his hand. Recognizing the urgency, our technicians jumped in to help. Grabbing rubber gloves and a first aid kit from their truck, James applied pressure to the child’s wound.

Working together, they dressed the wound using medical gauze and wrap, instructing the child to elevate his hand to reduce the bleeding.
The two technicians stayed with the child and his caregiver, holding pressure on the wound until his parents arrived and took the child to the local hospital.
I couldn’t have done it alone.”
– James, PSE&G Technician
James and Nick went above and beyond to not only apply their first-aid training but also demonstrate our values and focus on safety, ready to show up when it mattered most with professionalism, empathy and skill.
Caught in time
During a Saturday no-heat call in Jersey City, a homeowner suddenly felt faint and collapsed while guiding our technician, Enrique, down to the basement toward her malfunctioning boiler. Catching her mid-fall, he carried her safely down the stairs, where she regained consciousness shortly after and asked Enrique to call her daughter.

Enrique called her daughter, who asked him to call 911, as she was 30 minutes away. When she was well enough to move, Enrique helped the customer onto the couch, gave her water and stayed with her until her daughter and EMS arrived on scene. Only after EMS arrived did Enrique return to the boiler – and made sure her heat was restored before he left.
This is what care looks like. It’s not just service. It’s people looking out for people.
Smell gas – act fast
While inspecting a nearly finished home in Ewing, New Jersey, Derrick, one of our gas meter technicians, noticed the faint smell of natural gas.

Always ready to support, Derrick acted on his training, instinct and strong situational awareness.
Using his Remote Methane Leak Detector – a laser-based tool used by meter technicians to quickly and safely find natural gas leaks from a distance –Derrick started seeing gas readings that indicated an active leak and immediately contacted dispatch for assistance.
Within minutes, the local police and fire department gained access to the building and one of our service technicians identified the source of the leak from a broken flex line for the kitchen stove. Gas service was shut off, making the area safe.
Derrick’s quick thinking prevented the gas leak from continuing and building toward a very dangerous level, ensuring the safety of the public and property. One quiet act of vigilance. One big impact on community safety.
This is who we are
These stories are examples of our values in action – and we could not be prouder of all of our employees who embody them.
At its core, a utility may be wires, pipes, and power – but it’s the people of PSE&G who bring it to life. In moments of crisis and calm alike, they are the ones who show up, who restore warmth to homes, who ensure safety in the dark and who stand shoulder to shoulder with the communities they serve. Their dedication goes beyond infrastructure – it’s about compassion, resilience and the quiet heroism that keeps New Jersey running strong. These employees were simply showing up when it mattered most – and doing so with professionalism, empathy and skill – because public service never takes a break, and safety is always part of the job.
This is what it means to be an employee of PSE&G. This is what it means to be Jersey Ready.
