It’s been a relentless winter across New Jersey. Week after week of freezing temperatures, high winds and snow that’s lingered forever have tested all of us – at home, at work and across our communities.
Just a few months earlier, we were facing the opposite: a week-long heat wave in June 2025 that pushed our systems and crews to the extreme. Over the course of one intense week, our teams responded to back-to-back thunderstorms, floods and soaring triple-digit heat – replacing over 500 transformers and restoring power to over 140,000 customers.
The seasons couldn’t look more different. But the response? It comes from the same place – being Jersey Ready.

When extreme cold descended across the state earlier this month, we worked together to keep our customers safe and warm. Over the course of a single weekend, we:
- Restored more than 24,000 customers
- Responded to approximately 4,100 no-heat calls
- Addressed 48 gas main breaks, safely
Crews worked in freezing conditions and high winds. Call center teams pivoted quickly to meet surging call volumes. Municipal partners stayed in close contact with our public affairs teams to keep our customers informed.
Everyone had a role. Everyone stepped in and stepped up.
Being Jersey Ready doesn’t just mean being prepared – it means being present, especially when conditions are difficult. It means keeping safety at the center and supporting one another in real time, all the time. It means doing the work quietly, capably and with care.
We don’t always know what each season will bring. But whatever comes next, we’ll face it – together.
Because that’s Jersey Ready.
