Small steps, big savings: The power of PSE&G’s Energy Efficiency Programs

Across New Jersey, customers are finding real value in energy efficiency—and through our suite of programs, we’re delivering practical solutions that help both residential and business customers manage their energy use.

Since these programs launched, nearly 465,000 customers have participated—through home energy assessments, swapping out old appliances, and upgrading heating and cooling systems. Collectively, these efforts are delivering more than $720 million in annual savings[i] on utility bills.

Making energy efficiency more affordable and accessible

These programs weren’t created in a vacuum. They were developed in alignment with New Jersey’s clean energy goals to provide our customers with more choices to save energy in ways that work for them. Affordability and accessibility remain key to how these programs are designed.

So far, customers have received about $740 million in rebates, through either instant discounts at purchase or post-purchase rebates, helping to offset the cost of appliances, products, and HVAC systems.

Participation to date includes:

Supporting small businesses, too

Our energy efficiency programs for businesses continue to deliver value, helping commercial customers reduce energy use and manage operating costs through practical solutions tailored to their needs. More than 18,500 businesses have completed about 28,000 projects so far.

Participation in the Small Business Direct Install Program remains strong, with more than 1,500 small businesses projected to save approximately $19 million annually[ii] on energy costs. This program reduces upfront costs and delivers long-term savings—making upgrades more manageable for smaller businesses.

“Affordability and energy efficiency go hand-in-hand, and our programs are designed to make it easier for customers to reduce their energy use and manage their monthly bills,” said Lauren Thomas, vice president of Clean Energy Solutions, Customer Solutions. “As customers continue to take advantage of our energy efficiency programs, they’re seeing the benefits—lower energy costs, greater comfort, and more affordable ways to save energy at home.”

The bigger picture

Together, participating residential and business customers are on track to save about 2.8 million megawatt-hours of electricity each year—enough to power more than 406,000 homes annually.[iii] Natural gas savings are expected to exceed 75 million therms a year. Combined, these efforts are projected to help avoid about 2.1 million metric tons of carbon emissions annually[iv]—the equivalent of taking 455,000 gasoline-powered vehicles off the road.[v]

These programs are also supporting New Jersey’s workforce. Through the Clean Energy Jobs Program, more than 4,100[vi] individuals have been placed in clean energy careers, helping to build the state’s workforce of the future.

Resources to help customers manage costs

Our energy efficiency programs help customers save energy and lower their bills, but we know that’s just one part of the picture. Managing energy costs can require more, which is why along with these programs, we offer flexible payment options and other resources tailored to meet customers’ needs. We’re proud of the impact these combined efforts are making, and we’ll keep providing practical ways to support our customers where it matters most.
